Greetings everyone, thank you for reading.
I just want to drop a brief bit of scripture on you today. It is about God’s Holy Spirit.
There is nothing that saddens a preacher more than seeing people who once were on fire for the Lord, no longer in a relationship with the Lord. They have drifted away. Hebrews 2:1-4,
“We must pay careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed by according to his will.”
Now, if I asked everyone who I have seen over the years who drifted away from the Lord, why they did so, most would blame the Lord. Others would blame the church, or Christians in general. While I would understand and deeply empathize with their plight, I would respectfully submit verse 1 of this reading. The author of Hebrews makes it clear that it is our responsibility to guard our hearts from drifting away.
It is up to each one of us to protect our hearts so as to avoid this happening to us. The testimony of the martyrs, the saints, and the disciples, along with the testimony of God’s Word will help protect our hearts. But what ensures and strengthens our salvation the most, is the ever present and always faithful Holy Spirit of God.
Which begs the question: Are you Spirit filled?
Right now, if you are thinking that yes, of course, I am Spirit filled, you are not the individual to whom this message is intended. I would ask that you pray for those to whom this message is intended.
However, if you have no idea what I am speaking about, when I say a Spirit filled believer, than bingo. This next month I’ll be focusing on the Holy Spirit. Allow me to give you one more brief passage of scripture, to whet your whistle about the Holy Spirit of God. For, without God’s Spirit, you almost assuredly will drift away from the Lord. Galatians 5:16-18,
“So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit , you are not under the law.”
Agree with me please, as I pray.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your Son Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Jesus died for my sins on the cross. I thank you for forgiving me my sins, and my salvation through my faith in Jesus.
Father, I want to understand more about your Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit you are welcome in and around me wherever I go. Lord, allow your Holy Spirit to pour your wisdom and truth into my spirit.
Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Learn to live by the Spirit and you’ll never drift away from the Lord.
Do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God.
Blessings,
